UD Additional Certification in ESL 2021/22 Cohort From Dr. Caplan (also DELLTA AC Member)

"Dear colleagues,

Please help spread the word among your colleagues and networks! The University of Delaware is recruiting teachers for the 7th Additional Certification in ESL (ACE) cohort, to start in Fall, 2021.

ACE is an affordable, practical course of study for currently licensed teachers looking to add a certificate as a Teacher of English Learners or Bilingual Teacher in order to better serve the rapidly growing population of English learners in Delaware's schools. Excuse the cliche, but now more than ever, we need qualified ESL teachers to support and advocate for ELs.

ACE has been running since 2016, and has prepared over 70 ESL teachers from all three Delaware counties, many of whom have secured new positions as ESL specialists in their schools. Two ACE teachers have gone on to become district teacher of the year, and the current Delaware Teacher of the Year, Kim Stock, is an ACE and MA TESL graduate! ACE courses are taught by experienced UD faculty, and all courses are currently fully online. The five required courses can be transferred into the UD MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

For more information, please visit our website, complete the registration form, or contact the ACE Coordinator, Dr. Nigel Caplan (nacaplan@udel.edu).

Thank you!

Nigel" -- Nigel A. Caplan, PhD Associate Professor & Online Program Manager (he/him) Coordinator, Additional Certification in ESL (ACE) English Language Institute University of Delaware www.nigelcaplan.com | http://sites.udel.edu/aceteach
